The song achieves a feat last earned by 50 Cent with “In Da Club.”
Trevor Daniel’s debut hit “Falling” ascends to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Pop Songs radio airplay chart (dated July 25).
The single was released on Alamo/Interscope Records. The Pop Songs chart, which launched in October 1992, measures total weekly plays, as tabulated by Nielsen Music/MRC Data, among its reporting panel of over 160 mainstream top 40 stations.
“Falling” hits No. 1 on Pop Songs in its 28th week on the chart, dating to its Jan. 18 debut. It completes the second-longest trip to the top, after Benny Blanco, Halsey and Khalid’s “Eastside” reached the summit in its 31st week on the ranking dated March 2, 2019.
Further “Falling” fun fact: the track is the first Pop Songs No. 1 on Interscope by a solo male and no accompanying artists since 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” ruled for four weeks in April 2003. Still, in between, the label hauled in another 44 No. 1s overall, including at least one in every year since 2009, the longest active streak for any label. Before “Falling,” Interscope last led via Maroon 5’s “Memories,” for a week this February.
As “Falling” tops Pop Songs, Daniel’s follow-up single, “Past Life,” with Selena Gomez, rises 23-20 in its third week on the chart.
