It’s a particularly adorable #FBF for Taylor Swift today (Dec 13), as the singer celebrated turning 30 by posting an adorable childhood snap.
“Who’s gonna tell her she’s thirtay now,” Swift excitedly wrote in all caps, accompanied by a cupcake emoji. A blonde-haired Swift is staring up at the camera in the photo, in which she’s wearing a tie-dye dress with crocheted sleeves and blue shorts.
The celebrations started for Swift on Thursday night (Dec. 12), as the “Lover” singer received the first-ever Billboard Woman of the Decade Award at the Hollywood Palladium. She delivered an empowering speech that called out the institutionalized sexism she’s witnessed in the industry over the last decade, while voicing her support for Lana Del Rey as the “most influential artist in pop” and calling out Scooter Braun by name for buying her music against her wishes.
“When this decade began I was 20 years old,” Swift said. “I saw that as a female in this industry, some people will always have the slightest reservations about you.” Examples include questioning “whether a male producer or co-writer was the reason for your success, or whether it was a savvy record label [responsible for your success]. It wasn’t,” she said pointedly. “People want to explain away a woman’s success in this industry.”
Swift also urged that the industry keep advocating for more female representation in recording studios, A&R departments and other areas of the music business.
