It’s been 5 years since Rihanna released her eighth studio album, ANTI. Since then, she’s become a business mogul and often teases that new music is never coming, but that might be changing “soon.”
According to a tweet from Chart Data, Rihanna’s ANTI “has now spent five full years on the Billboard 200 [and is the] first album by a Black female artist to reach this milestone in the chart’s history.” In response to this historic news, the Bad Gal herself stated, “grateful to the most High for putting die hard supporters in my circle […] #Anti #WomensHistoryMonth congrats to everyone that contributed to this era, thank you team.”
Almost immediately, her fans began to flood her comments. One boldly stated, “celebrate by releasing a song.” This isn’t a new ask though. Whether Rih is announcing a new Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin product or is simply lounging around in the latest Savage X Fenty lingerie, fans always ask about the status of R9. Last we heard, she was “very aggressively working on music,” but it’s explicitly clear that her other business ventures have taken precedent.
Yet, when the fan asked to celebrate the ANTI news with a song, Rihanna had a shocking response that sent the internet to panic mode. “I think I should [soon emoji],” she replied. “Just 1 tho lol,” she continued.
There is no release date for the potential new single, but Fenty Beauty is gearing up to release a blurring skin tint on Friday, March 26, just in time for Spring.
