The song is title track to the singer’s upcoming live documentary of the same name.
P!nk lays down her sword and dives into the pain in her emotional new song, “All I Know So Far,” the title track to her upcoming documentary/album of the same name. The song, which dropped on Friday morning (May 7), was produced by Greg Kurstin and co-written by the singer and Oscar- and Golden Globe0-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and it’s a classic P!nk tale of perseverance and strength.
“I wish someone would have told me that this life is ours to choose/ No one’s handing you the keys or a book with all the rules/ The little that I know I’ll tell to you/ When they dress you up in lies and you’re left naked with the truth,” she sings over a gently plucked acoustic guitar before powering into the chin-up chorus.
“You throw your head back, and you spit in the wind/ Let the walls crack, ’cause it lets the light in/ Let ’em drag you through hell/ They can’t tell you to change who you are/ That’s all I know so far,” she sings with steely eyed conviction. “And when the storm’s out, you run in the rain/ Put your sword down, dive right into the pain/ Stay unfiltered and loud, you’ll be proud of that skin full of scars/ That’s all I know so far/ That’s all I know so far.”
The singer also dropped the Princess Bride-like video for the song, which features cameos from an angelic Cher, husband Carey Hart and a spectral Judith Light. The Dave Meyers video marks the 16th collaboration between the two over a 22 year span that began with her very first clip for “There You Go” from 2000. “Dave Meyers and I are back together again,” the singer said in a statement. “Since this song is sort of the story of my life and a letter to my daughter, making this video with Dave after we did our first video together 22 years ago is a really special full circle moment. He’s truly a genius and I am full of gratitude for our friendship and to experience all the times we’ve been able to work together.”
After falling from the sky onto a cactus, the cinematic visual finds the singer telling her son a fairy tale about her life that includes her battling a trio of pig-faced giants, literally running through a shower of slings and arrows and stumbling through a desert filled with floating eyeballs, among other trippy images.
The Michael Gracey-directed film P!nk: All I Know So Far hits Amazon Prime Video on May 21. The title track will also show up on the project’s official 16-track RCA Records soundtrack, All I Know So Far: Setlist, which features live takes on such iconic hits as “Just Like a Pill,” “Just Give Me a Reason” and “So What” as well as her MTV Video Vanguard Award Speech, covers of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “We Are the Champions” and her heart-swelling duet with daughter Willow, “Cover Me in Sunshine.”
