It was a big night for Olivia Rodrigo at the BRIT Awards in London on Tuesday night. The “Drivers License” singer got to (finally) meet her idol, Taylor Swift.
Swift and Rodrigo commemorated their first in-person meeting by posing for a silly picture, which Rodrigo later posted to her Instagram.
The comment section was flooded with exclamation marks, OMGs and bright emojis as celebs and fans “freaked out” on behalf of Rodrigo, who has never kept her Swiftie status a secret.
Included in the comments section was fellow Swiftie and Pop star, Conan Gray, who recently re-created Swift’s “You Belong With Me,” video alongside Rodrigo, handwritten signs and all.
Meeting Taylor wasn’t the only big moment for Rodrigo at the Awards show, she also took the stage to perform her hit song “Drivers License,” and is believed to have left personalized notes for some of her favorite artists on their tables.
Taylor was honored with the Global Icon Award.
“I need you to hear me when I say that there is no career path that comes free of negativity,” Swift said in her acceptance speech. “If you’re experiencing turbulence or pressure, that probably means that you’re rising and there might be times where you put your whole heart and soul into something and it is met with cynicism or skepticism. You cannot let that crush you.”
Swift’s speech surely spoke to Rodrigo, who has been met with her own songwriting critics while rising to fame.
Rodrigo’s debut album, Sour, drops Friday, May 21.
