Some lucky Olivia Rodrigo fans opened their front doors recently to find their favorite singer standing outside, holding a pink sign that read “Prom would be brutal without u.” And while it wasn’t actually an invite to prom, it was an invite to a livestream event.
Rodrigo announced on Wednesday (June 23) that the Sour Prom Concert Film will stream Tuesday, June 29, at 8:30 p.m. PT on her official YouTube channel. During the event, the singer will be performing tunes from her hit debut album as fans enjoy what the press release calls “the ultimate alternative prom experience.”
There will also be a pre-prom event hosted by Rodrigo on her YouTube page, which begins 30 minutes before the livestream, at 8 p.m. PT.
Ahead of the announcement, the 18-year-old “Drivers License” singer surprised a select few of her “Livies” with an in-person invitation to the event. She even came bearing gifts — flowers and merchandise including a box of Sour Patch Kids with her face on it — according to photos uploaded on Twitter by the lucky fans.
Some of the invitees posted pictures with the singer following the promposal.
“olivia rodrigo came to my house to ask me to prom & i don’t think i’ll ever shut up. WHAT IS LIFE???!” tweeted a fan named Jocelyn.
“the best and only promposal i’ve ever gotten. I WILL BE YOUR DATE FOREVER <3,” wrote another.
The promposals come just days after Rodrigo graduated from high school, a feat she celebrated in an Instagram post.
