Nicole Scherzinger caught up with Billboard on the red carpet at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala on Saturday (Jan. 25), discussing the evening’s honoree Diddy, working with Meghan Trainor and her upcoming reunion tour with the Pussycat Dolls.
Speaking of Diddy, who was being honored with the 2020 Grammy Salute to Industry Icons award that evening, Scherzinger recalls that the first time she ever attended the Pre-Grammy Gala was with hip-hop mogul.
“Puff took me as his little date,” she tells Billboard. “I was his little sister and I love him like a brother, and I’m just so stoked he’s being honored tonight.”
Asked about working with Meghan Trainor on the track “Genetics,” Scherzinger says the experience was “awesome,” adding that Meghan is like a sister to her.
“She’s so talented,” Scherzinger adds. “Such a beautiful, genius writer … That was so fun, just in the studio with her, we’re just goofing around the whole time. So it was just fun.”
In the interview, Scherzinger also chats about her upcoming reunion tour with the Pussycat Dolls, noting that she is really excited to get back out there, to be present in the moment, and to enjoy it.
“Sometimes you don’t realize when things happen so fast,” she says. “People pull you to so many different directions you’re put under so much pressure, not able to really enjoy it. We’ve all lived enough life now … We get to be there for each other and lift each other up, build each other up, and like I said, be present in the moment and enjoy it and go. We got our faithful fans that have been there, and then we got a whole new generation of fans to have fun and rock out with.”
