Madonna was forced to cancel the last date on her U.S. tour, and she’s hoping rest and treatment will allow her to be back on stage in time for the European leg next month.
The 61-year-old pop star did not say what was ailing her, but she previously cancelled dates on the same tour for a knee injury. She said he was in tears from pain she called indescribable as she climbed a ladder on stage in Miami on Saturday.
“With every song I sang, I said a prayer that I would make it to the next and get thru the show,” she wrote on Instagram with video of the moment in question. “My prayers were answered and I made it. I consider myself a warrior. I never quit, I never give in, I never give up!! However this time I have to listen to my body and accept that my pain is a warning.”
The next night’s show in Miami was cancelled, and now the clock is ticking to the next scheduled concert on January 12th in Lisbon.
“I spent the last two days with doctors – scans, ultra sounds, Xrays. Poking and probing and more tears,” she continued. “They have made it very clear to me that if l am to continue my tour, I must rest for as long as possible so that I don’t inflict further and Irreversible damage to my body. I have never let an injury stop me from performing but this time I have to accept that there is no shame in being human and having to press the pause button.”
It’s just the latest setback for Madonna on her Madame X tour. In addition to her health issues, opening night was postponed because of production issues.
