Drake’s delayed next album, Certified Lover Boy, is in the can and its due out sometime before the end of summer. That much we know. The finer details, not so much.
The past few months haven’t exactly been a Drake-free zone. Billboard’s Artist of the Decade did share the three-song Scary Hours 2 project in March, featuring guest appearances by Lil Baby and Rick Ross. And he guested with Lil Wayne on Nicki Minaj’s “Seeing Green,” which appeared on the 2021 rerelease of her 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty, and with Brent Faiyaz on the Neptunes-produced tune “Wasting Time”.
The Drake drops don’t end there, with the rapper jumping on Smiley’s new song “Over The Top”.
Drizzy and his fellow Torontonian have connections that extend well beyond their hometown.
Drake has previously cited Smiley as an “inspiration” and, a day after finding out he was one of the most-nominated artists for the 2019 Grammys, the rapper uploaded a video of himself shirtless in the pool, sipping a drink and cooling down to the intro track off Smiley’s A Tape to Remember.
Drake’s forthcoming sixth album was originally slated for release in January, but was pushed back due to his rehab from surgery. It’s the followup to the mega-hit double album from 2018, Scorpion.
