Diplo is suing a former girlfriend for allegations of revenge pornography, stalking and trespassing. Diplo, real name Thomas Wesley Pentz, filed the lawsuit against Marchel Gabrielle Auguste April 30th in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Diplo alleges that Auguste is a “relentless and unstable fan” who manipulated herself into his life for the purpose of “obtaining intimate and personal information about him in order to gain fame and notoriety,” according to the 11-page complaint. Diplo’s complaint that once he realized that Auguste was unstable that he tried to distance himself from her. The more he blocked Auguste’s social accounts, the angrier she became, states the complaint.
He claims that in addition to angry requests, she showed up at his residence uninvited and created fake social media accounts where she repeatedly sent out sexually explicit photographs of Diplo to his close friends and family. Pentz says Auguste also posted a naked photo of him on Instagram to her 4,000 plus followers.
Diplo says he had a brief consensual relationship with Auguste and only met in person a handful of times. He says when he pulled back from their relationship that Auguste responded with increasing desperate requests and then he believes she created fictitious Instagram accounts and posted naked photos of him online. He also says that she began telling people falsely that their brief relationship was one of “ill-treatment and degradation.”
He says that Auguste’s conduct became so disturbing that on Dec. 8, 2020 he filed for and secured a temporary restraining order preventing her from contacting him. Auguste had filed for her own restraining order against Diplo on Nov. 26, 2020.
At the time, Auguste’s attorney Lisa Bloom said she filed for the restraining order on behalf of her client to prevent Diplo or anyone associated with him from distributing revenge porn images of her client.
Diplo says the restraining order he obtained did not deter Auguste and that he believes she has contacted the mother of his child with “racist and other disgusting messages.” Diplo says he sold his Los Angeles home in March “in large part, to protect this family from Auguste in fear that she may again show up unannounced at his home.” He says he is filing this lawsuit against her now to hold Auguste accountable for her “wrongful and illegal behavior.”
Auguste’s attorney has not responded to Billboard’s request for comment on Diplo’s suit.
