Ben Affleck does not want to reprise his role as Batman.
In a new interview with Florida pastor DeWayne Hamby, Affleck spoke about whether or not he would ever return as the hero.
“Yeah, that’s not the kind of um… you know, I had an opportunity to write and direct and kind of start a standalone Batman,” the actor responded.
The actor explained that despite the opportunity, he was looking for a different kind of narrative to tell.
“You know it just happened at a point in my life when I kinda lost interest in those stories, you know?”
The actor joked about playing a “very old Batman with a walker” in 20 years’ time.
Affleck did call Robert Pattinson, who will star as the Caped Crusader in director Matt Reeves’ upcoming “The Batman,” a “great actor.”
Earlier this month, Warner Bros. shared the first-ever glimpse of Pattinson in costume as the Dark Knight.
Reeves shared the video of Pattinson’s camera test, in which the “Twilight” actor appears in costume as the Caped Crusader.
Reeves shared the video on Twitter with the caption, “#TheBatman #CameraTest.”
Production on the film is currently underway in the United Kingdom.
The cast includes Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone.
Reeves described the movie as a “defining” and “very personal story” about Batman.
Affleck’s new film “The Way Back” opens in theaters on Friday. “The Batman” will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
