Bad Bunny isn’t just a garden-variety wrestling fan. After weeks of winding the TV grappling world up with his alleged feud with The Miz, the reggaeton superstar got into the ring on Saturday night (April 10) to live out his childhood fantasies during a tag-team match against The Miz and John Morrison at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
Calling it “one of the most impressive showings by a celebrity in the ring,” ESPN praised the “Dakiti” singer’s skills, pointing out his deployment of the classic lucha libre spinning headscissors move on Miz and a devastating finishing move the WWE called the “Bunny Destoyer” that was super impressive. The reggaeton superstar capped the night by announcing the dates for his 2022 North American tour.
It was Bunny’s first WrestleMania appearance, but the singer — who put in months of prep to get ready for his debut — is no WWE newbie. Back in January, he performed “Booker T” (named after the famous wrestler) at Royal Rumble, and then made waves when he jumped off the top rope onto The Miz and fellow Superstar Morrison outside of the ring.
After the match, Bunny posted a video in which WWE legend Triple H, said, “You did amazing at WrestleMania but now, it’s time for you to do what you do,” while handing the singer a yellow road case while the pair stood on a deserted highway. “Thanks,” responded Bunny, who opened it to reveal a skull-shaped microphone and the words “tour 2022” on the side of the case. The clip was captioned, “POR FIN!!! ESTÁN LISTOS??? (Finally! Are you all ready?)”
Tickets for the El Último Tour del Mundo go on sale on Friday (April 16) at noon ET.
