Kacey Musgraves bares her soul and a bit more on ‘SNL,’ wearing only her cowboy boots and guitar

An homage to ‘Forrest Gump’

Kacey Musgraves helped start off season 47 of Saturday Night Live by barring her soul and a bit more. Performing two tracks off her latest album, Star-Crossed, wearing only her cowboy boots and guitar.

For the second time appearing on the weekly sketch show, Kacey opted for an acoustic and bare rendition of “justified” — literally. Stripping away all her usual props and lighting, Kacey appeared onstage in just a pair of cowboy boots and her guitar, a la Jenny in Forrest Gump.

Following the performance, Kacey confirmed the 1994 film as her inspiration, by tweeting out a pic from the scene in question — Jenny’s strip-club performance of “Blowin’ in the Wind.”

For her second performance of the Owen Wilson-hosted episode, Kacey changed things up, opting for clothing this time, yet still keeping the vibe casual. Singing ”camera roll,” while wearing a cropped plaid flannel shirt and jeans, she started her performance at a table against changing images of people sitting opposite her, eventually joining her band.

Just like Kacey’s entire sophomore album her SNL performances, though some lacking in dress, were both filled with emotion. Check out both above.
