Halsey dropped a dramatic live video for the song “I Am Not a Woman, I’m a God” over the weekend, in which she is splashed with blood while singing the track from her Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross-produced If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power album. The clip stars out with Halsey singing while staring intently at the camera as the stage flashes with colored strobes all around them.
Wearing a white, toga-like dress, the singer keeps the eye contact coming as they sing, “I am not a woman, I’m a god/ I am not a martyr, I’m a problem/ I am not a legend, I’m a fraud/ Keep your heart ’cause I already.” Out of nowhere, drops of blood start flying in from every direction, with the splatters dripping down her face as she leans urgently into the lines “I try, but I need it, it’s hard, but I feel it/ And it really does hurt when you love someone.”
The clip dropped on the same day that Halsey launched a first-of-its-kind treasure hunt in the metaverse in partnership with Verizon and FriendsWithYou. Saturday saw the kick-off of the H1DD3N immersive installation, an expansive, augmented-reality-powered treasure hunt that will admit fans who use their smartphones to scan QR codes on nearby signs in select Verizon 5G public spaces across New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and Seattle.
Upon entry into the AR treasure hunt, fans will explore larger-than-life art pieces, listen to “Darling” from If I Can’t Have Love, and potentially win the grand prize of Apple’s latest iPhone 13 Pro.
