Post Malone’s manager celebrated his client’s 26th birthday on Sunday (July 4) by revealing that a new single, “Motley Crew,” is due out on Friday (July 9). On Instagram, Dre London wrote “Happy Birthday Post Malone” along with the title of the new song and the release date.
“Happy Birthday my brother @postmalone I tell u all the time you are 1 of the realest Americans I ever met!!” London wrote in a message accompanying the preview of the jam.So of course your day is today! This week we celebrated by shooting a MOVIE!! I’m excited to finally announce new single ‘Motley Crew’ dropping Friday! Full project with Concert Doc coming real soon! #DreVision #2021.”
At press time a spokesperson for Malone could not be reached for additional comment on the song or the documentary teased by London. The new track is the first fresh music from Malone since releasing his Hollywood’s Bleeding album in 2019. In a short clip uploaded by London Malone is seen being showered with champagne on a winner’s podium after what looks like a stock car race, with the rapper decked out in a yellow racing suit as women in black dresses dance around and various men shake up bottles of bubbly and spray it in the air amid plumes of fireworks.
“Colder than ice, Siberia/ I’m at the top of the pyramids/ B—h, I’m a star, see it/ We gettin’ into plays, serious/ Came with the gang, we made it/ Came with the gang, we made it,” Posty raps on the song snippet heard in the video. The song’s title, seemingly inspired by the icon metal band Mötley Crüe, brought out Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, who posted a photo of himself on the set of the video on Sunday along with Malone and two unidentified women.
Malone, 26, who recently showed off his $1 million smile with custom fangs is one of the headliners of this year’s Lollapalooza festival in Chicago and Governors Ball in New York, among other festival dates.
