Alicia Keys plants her flag atop the R&B world yet again as the singer/songwriter’s latest studio album, Alicia, debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart. The set, released Sept. 18, earned 62,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Sept. 24, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
Alicia becomes the performer’s second No. 1 on Top R&B Albums, which began in 2012, a little more than a decade into her career. It follows Here, which reigned for one week in 2016. Keys also released two more projects that have reached Top R&B Albums: Girl on Fire (No. 2) and VH1 Storytellers (No. 9) both in 2013.
Elsewhere, Alicia enters at No. 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, which encapsulates Keys’ entire career history. The start marks her eighth top 10 project; the previous seven all topped the list.

As Alicia arrives, the album’s single “So Done,” featuring Khalid, returns at No. 19 on the Hot R&B Songs chart after having peaked at No. 9. Two of the album’s other tracks, “Show Me Love,” featuring Miguel, and “Underdog” also climbed to No. 9 highs in November 2019 and May 2020, respectively.
