Taylor Swift is expressing her gratitude for a fan who’s put herself on the frontline during the coronavirus pandemic.
A fan named Whitney Hilton — who posts about all things Swift as @TaNnEytWiT on Twitter and is a nurse who traveled to work in New York City, the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak in the United States — shared photos on Sunday (May 3) of a special delivery she got in time for her 30th birthday.
She received a package chock-full of merch that arrived with a sweet letter penned by Swift.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I wanted to send you some presents and to let you know I am so grateful for you,” Swift wrote in her note. “I can’t thank you enough for risking your life to help people and for spreading the message loudly that people need to hear, about taking this seriously.”
“Also, I saw the photo of you from my show! Thank you for coming!! I would love to give you a hug next time and thank you in person. With love and admiration, Taylor,” she said.
“This was quite literally the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE,” Hilton admitted in her tweet.
Swift has been helping in her own way during the crisis. She performed her heartrending ballad “Soon You’ll Get Better” for the One World: Together at Home concert to support and applaud essential workers. She also quietly offered funds to several fans who were in financial distress due to the pandemic.
In a recent conversation about life during quarantine on a SiriusXM show, Swift said, “Mostly I’ve been online trying to figure out how to help others, and just constantly in awe of our first responders and our emergency workers and our healthcare professionals who are putting themselves in danger every single day that they go to work. So shout out to everyone who works in a medical profession, everybody who’s out there helping.”
