The Cheat Codes are back with their first release of 2020 on Friday (Jan. 31). The trio didn’t let January close before unleashing a star-studded banger in “No Service in the Hills” featuring Trippie Redd and Blackbear along with Cheat Codes member Kevin Ford debuting under his Prince$$ Rosie alias.
The inspiration behind the genre-blending track is pretty straight-forward, as most L.A. residents living in the Hills can relate to the struggle of not being able to find cellphone service. “It’s no service in the hills/ I can’t hit you back (Yeah), you gon’ have to chill (Have to chill)/ Tryna make another mil’/ I just can’t relax (Yeah), I might take a pill,” Blackbear sets the tone with the catchy chorus.
Trippie takes the baton from Rosie and continues the theme by injecting his experiences in the Hills into his verse. “With a bad b—h, flirting in the hills/ In this Maybach, man, I’m swervin’ in the hills, yeah/ Had to lift up my curtains in the hills/ It look perfect in the hills/ And if a n—a test me, come and murder in the hills,” he raps.
“Shoutout to Lil Aaron for bringing the gang together — ‘No Service In The Hills’ is our L.A. anthem and we are stoked to have our hometown homies Trippie Redd and Blackbear on this with us,” Cheat Codes added in a statement.
