Some of the most moving Christmas songs are the slower, somber ones, and Miley Cyrus has now revealed her own worthy addition to that select holiday mix.
On Saturday night (Dec. 20), Cyrus posted an emotional throwback to 2015’s “Sad Christmas Song,” which she wrote while driving from Malibu to her L.A. studio and recorded with Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz collaborators Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips. Though the tune is a few years old, the melancholy is feeling very real to her this season, and she figured some Smilers could relate to the not-so-merry sentiments of its lyrics.
“Was feeling like s–t cause I couldn’t be with the one I loved,” she wrote on Instagram. “Even with a house full of family and friends I still felt alone. In ways that still feels relevant and someone reading this right now could possibly relate!”
“If you feel lonely this season just know YOU ARE COMPLETELY MADE OF MAGIC!” she continued. “You are as special as a snowflake, beautifully unique and I hope inside your soul feels light, hope, peace, and joy knowing how singularly amazing YOU are! Love always wins!”
